Cognitive and Manual Performance following Interval vs. Continuous Exercise in the Cold

It is well documented that interval (INT) and continuous (CONT) exercise result in different patterns of blood flow and heat exchange in both heat 8 and cold. 9 Exercise can improve finger temperature 10, 11 and manual dexterity 12, 13 in the cold, but the type of exercise (interval vs. continuous cycling, matched for energy expenditure) has never been evaluated under this paradigm. Thus, we sought to evaluate how mode of exercise affects body temperature, manual dexterity, and executive function in 5°C air.
